Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Ultrawider ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Ultrawider browser extension and the ultrawider.net website (together, the "Service"). We have designed the Service to collect the absolute minimum required to deliver and bill for it.
1. Summary
- The extension processes video locally inside your browser. We do not see, log, or transmit what you are watching.
- For paid plans we store only your email address and a record that you have an active license.
- Card and banking details are handled exclusively by our payment processor NOWPayments. We never see or store them.
- We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to count anonymous installs and feature toggles. We do not build advertising profiles.
- You have rights under GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, including access, deletion, and opt-out of "sale" of personal information (we do not sell it).
2. What we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Email address — for purchase confirmation, receipts, license recovery, and required service notices.
- Payment metadata — transaction ID, plan, amount, currency, and timestamp returned to us by NOWPayments. We do not receive card numbers, CVCs, or bank account numbers.
- Support correspondence — if you email us, we keep that conversation in order to respond and to improve the Service.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Anonymous usage analytics — installation, uninstallation, anonymous "feature toggled" events, and extension version. Aggregated and tied to a randomly generated install ID, not to your identity.
- Crash and error reports — technical details (extension version, browser version, error stack) without page URLs or video content, used to diagnose bugs.
- Server logs — when you visit ultrawider.net or hit our license API, our hosting provider may log standard request metadata (IP, user-agent, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are kept for no more than 30 days.
2.3 What we do NOT collect
- Your browsing history.
- The contents of pages you visit.
- Frames, audio, transcripts, or any other data extracted from videos you watch.
- Personal viewing history (which video you watched, on which site, when).
- Card numbers or bank account details.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
- process your purchase, issue receipts, and validate your Pro license;
- send you required service messages (e.g. refund confirmations, security notices, changes to these terms);
- respond to your support requests;
- detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
- comply with applicable law.
We do not use your personal data to train AI models, to build advertising profiles, or to sell to third parties.
4. Legal bases (GDPR)
For users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we process personal data on the following bases:
- Contract — to deliver the Service you have purchased (email, license records, payment metadata).
- Legitimate interests — minimal anonymous analytics, abuse prevention, security logging.
- Legal obligation — to keep records required by tax or consumer-protection law.
- Consent — where required, for example for optional non-essential cookies, with the right to withdraw at any time.
5. Third parties
We rely on a small number of carefully selected vendors:
- NOWPayments — payment processing. Subject to NOWPayments' own privacy policy.
- Google Chrome Web Store — distribution of the extension. Subject to Google's policies.
- Hosting provider — serves this website and the license validation endpoint.
We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
ultrawider.net uses a strictly necessary cookie or local-storage entry for authentication state (so you stay signed in to your account dashboard). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels. If we ever introduce optional analytics cookies, we will request your consent first.
7. International transfers
We are a small operation and may host data outside the country in which you live (typically the EEA or the US). Where personal data is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another legally recognised transfer mechanism.
8. Data retention
- Account email and license records: kept while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of a verified deletion request, or as required by law.
- Payment metadata: kept for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically 5–10 years).
- Support emails: kept up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Server logs: kept up to 30 days, then deleted.
- Anonymous analytics: aggregated and retained indefinitely; you cannot be re-identified from them.
9. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion ("right to be forgotten");
- request a portable copy of your data;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ultrawider.net from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days.
10. Your rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information within the meaning of the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise your rights, email hello@ultrawider.net. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including HTTPS, encryption at rest where supported by our hosting provider, restricted access to production systems, and the principle of data minimisation. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify users by email or via the extension.
14. Contact
